Plevin & Turner Announces Addition of George Calhoun as Partner, Significantly Expanding the Firm’s Market-Leading Mass Tort Bankruptcy Practice

August 3, 2026: Plevin & Turner LLP, a law firm with offices in Washington, D.C., New York, and San Francisco, announced today that George Calhoun has joined the Firm as a partner, further strengthening the firm’s nationally recognized mass tort bankruptcy practice and deepening its bench of insurer-side litigation talent.

Mr. Calhoun is widely known for helping insurers navigate mass-tort liabilities, including matters involving asbestos, talc, abuse, and opioids. He advises insurers on complex Chapter 11 and other insolvency issues and has played leading roles in numerous high-profile bankruptcy proceedings such as Imerys Talc America, AIO US (Avon), and USA Gymnastics.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with George for many years, and tried a contested confirmation hearing with him in Delaware bankruptcy court earlier this year,” added Mr. Plevin. “He is an outstanding lawyer with significant first-chair bankruptcy experience. Earlier this year, the Firm added Jacob (Jack) Cohn, an appellate specialist and trial lawyer with extensive experience representing insurers in mass tort bankruptcy cases and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Cohn argued the first asbestos bankruptcy case ever to reach the U.S. Supreme Court, further underscoring the firm’s depth of expertise.
